Destiny 2 has had its ups and downs over the past seasons. Season 12, the Season of the Hunt, is widely regarded as Bungie’s lowest point in seasonal content, with only one activity and 5 new weapons to collect outside of the Hawkmoon quests. The lore in my opinion sets up future events and is warranted, but it could have been executed in a more exciting way for players to want to actually play it and not just cheese it.
I digress. Season 13, Season of the Chosen, brings the Cabal back to our doorstep in full force. They want an alliance against the Darkness, but once Empress Ciatal tells us to kneel before her, the war starts fresh once again. You can view the trailer here and here’s the calendar of events for the season.

Season 13 introduces a new area- the H.E.L.M., a space station where the Vanguard will plan its war against Ciatal and her forces. It looks reminiscent of the old Destiny 1 Tower, so it could be as old as that, but it could just be a design choice. The Prismatic Recaster for Umbral Engrams will be here too. What exactly we will do here (other than vendors) is unclear, but that will unfold once the update launches today.
We get new weapons to chase. An Exotic Bow- Ticuu’s Divination, a new Pursuit weapon- Salvager’s Salvo (new Mountaintop?), and several new Seasonal weapons themed with Cabal ornamentation similar to Leviathan.

We also get a new activity- The Battleground. It looks to be a 3-person activity where we fight off Cabal and Ciatal’s chosen. Honestly, I think this could be a cool thing, like a mini version of Sundial maybe?
We get 3 Strikes this season, 1 new Strike- Proving Grounds, and 2 returning D1 Strikes- Fallen S.A.B.E.R. and Devil’s Lair. Proving Grounds involves the Guardians fighting off a giant land tank from the inside, and the returning Strikes are probably going to be getting some tweaks to fit the new narrative, but I’m still excited to have new Strikes to play again.
We are also getting some returning Vanguard weapons- the Shadow Price Auto Rifle, the Palindrome Hand Cannon, and The Swarm Machine Gun, as Nightfall: The Ordeal rewards. They have a base chance to drop at the end and a higher chance based on your performance in the Nightfall. Adept versions of these will be available once Grandmaster Nightfalls arrive towards the end of the season, so gear up and get ready for a fight if you want one.

Trials of Osiris is returning with a new armor set and new rewards to chase down. I’m not a Trials player cause I’m not a sweaty PvP player, but I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some of this gear myself.

As of this writing, the update has launched, so I will wrap it up quickly. Thanks for reading, and hope you all enjoy the new season. I hope this is a step in the right direction for Destiny 2 and that it can only get better from here.
