Consoles Controllers News Playstation 5

A brief recap of the PlayStation 5 reveal

Although this holiday season won’t be exactly the same due to what’s going on in this world, new videogames will still be a big help when it comes to finding the holiday cheer that we crave. Luckily, the folks at Sony have provided us with a respectably-sized list of features and games we can look forward to experiencing on the PlayStation 5.

Right off the bat, it should be noted that this console will have two versions — One will have a 4K Blu-Ray drive, and the other can only be given new software via digital downloads. I’m kind of leaning towards the latter version since there are plenty of other ways to run 4K Blu-Ray Discs, but the choice is yours.

Just like the Xbox Series X, the PS5 will have the abilities to display its software in 8K resolution or run it in 4K at 120 frames per second. If you’ve got two 4K screens at the ready for console-gaming, the PS5’s got you covered just like its competitor.

Goodbye DualShock, hello DualSense. This new controller will come with adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and all sorts of revisions to features from its DualShock 4 predecessor.

It wouldn’t be a proper console showcase without presentations of upcoming games, and it looks like the PS5 is going to have a very stellar library when it comes to both first-party and third-party titles. If you look around the wonderful piece of technology that is the World Wide Web, you’ll see a very diverse list of announced games, the majority of which we at Silver Soul Gaming will be looking to cover in our online content. And of course, if you’re like me and think trading in your PS4 towards this pricey piece of hardware is the right thing to do, you’ll be pleased to know that thousands of PS4 games will run on the PS5. It’s a bummer that PlayStation still isn’t at Xbox’s level when it comes to backwards-compatibility, but I don’t find it to be a big deal.

We’ve still got a few months to kill before the holiday season commences, but things are looking up for the fifth home console in the iconic PlayStation brand. Previous consoles from Sony have yielded some of the biggest sales numbers in this industry, and the PS5 looks like it will be no exception.
