As evidenced by the number of laughter-inducing YouTube videos about it, Super Mario Maker 2 is a Switch jam that is here to stay for the time being. The fine folks at Nintendo have added more proof to that in the form of a new update that dropped today.
What could be better than the ability to create courses? Have you been wanting to make a large number of courses and split them across multiple worlds? If your answer to the latter question is yes, then you’re in luck! You now have the option to make your own miniature Mario platformer in the form of an eight-world, 40-course adventure. This feature cannot be utilized in online multiplayer, but that doesn’t mean it’s a pretty fun sandbox to play in.
If you’re up for it, you can now include the Koopalings into any course you design. And unlike Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, they aren’t alternate skins for Bowser Jr. Instead, each Koopaling behaves just like they do in Mario games of old.
And speaking of old games, this new update comes with a hefty amount of additional course parts and power-ups. These extra power-ups include the Super Mario Bros. 2 Mushroom, Frog Suit, Power Balloon, Super Acorn, Boomerang Flower, Cannon Box, and Propeller Box.
If it’s been a while since you last booted up Super Mario Maker 2, hopefully this large update will give you the motivation to get back into the action.
