Gamers around the world, myself included, are a little bit bummed at the moment. As we all know, there’s this thing called the coronavirus that’s spreading around the world at an alarming velocity. And unfortunately, this outbreak has begun to affect the gaming industry, as this year’s E3 has officially been cancelled. E3 has for many years been referred to as “gaming Christmas,” so this cancellation is quite a drag; But as we all know, safety first.
The Entertainment Software Association is currently looking to put together some kind of “online experience“ in place of E3’s annual Los Angeles Convention Center shenanigans. I personally have a feeling that said experience will mainly be in the form of livestreams on Twitch, YouTube, and/or Facebook, but we won’t know for sure until we hear it from the horse’s mouth. This cancellation is a bummer, but 2020 will still be a year of great releases in our beloved industry.
