
A Microsoft press release reveals that they are partnering with Sony to face future tech issues.
The two tech giants have agreed to work together to improve cloud technology, specifically Microsoft Azure. The “memorandum of understanding” also mentions collaborating on improving semiconductor and AI technology as well.
Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, spoke of Sony as “a leader in both entertainment and technology.”
Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida also recognized Microsoft is a competitor in several areas, but he “believe[s] that [their] joint development of future cloud solutions will contribute greatly to the advancement of interactive content”.
No details for now as to what this agreement means for either company in terms of their respective consoles. While light on info, the memo is an interesting twist in Microsoft and Sony’s relationship considering their competing consoles. Look forward to more details in the future.
