Today, Turtle Rock Studios announced on their website and Twitter account that they’re working on a new co-op zombie shooter called Back 4 Blood, and are partnering with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for further assistance. The game will be released for “PC, PS4, Xbox One, and next-generation consoles”–according to gamerant.com.
The official Turtle Rock Studios Twitter account’s tweet about the news came with an image that features their logo alongside Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s icon. Click here to be taken to that image.

Although no critical details about the title’s characters, story, game-play, and features were revealed in their announcement post, gamerant.com cites Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, stating that Back 4 Blood will “advance the co-op zombie genre forward with innovative multiplayer gameplay.”
As stated above, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment did not disclose how this game will innovate the current co-op zombie genre formula, which has me both interested and skeptical about this title’s game-play. Gamerant.com also cited and summarized the comments made by “Back 4 Blood design director Chris Ashton.” Here’s what gamerant.com shared in their article.
“It’s hard to overstate what an awesome opportunity this is. We get to return to a genre that was born in our studio with over ten years of additional experience and zombie ideas racked up in our brains,” he said. Ashton also mentioned that Turtle Rock Studios is growing considerably to develop the game.

According to gamerant.com, “Turtle Rock [Studios] hasn’t released a game since 2015’s asymmetric multiplayer flop Evolve.” Its also been awhile since we’ve seen a new Left 4 Dead title, so Back 4 Blood may have a lot of shoes to fill since that series’ long-term absence. If this title’s been in development for a long period of time, than we can expect more news to be shared about the title soon.
Also, the fact they’re planning to future-proof the title for the next generation of video game systems, is another high-note for the game. Even the comments shared from “Phil Robb, [the] Co-founder and Creative Director, at Turtle Rock Studios” has me intrigued about the title. Here’s what he stated in Turtle Rock Studios’s online blog–regarding the announcement.
“We’re growing the team considerably because we’re stepping up to the biggest challenge in this studio’s history. We know this title has to stand out and we fully intend to make that happen.”

With those comments in-mind, I believe it’s time to buckle up for the Back 4 Blood hype train because that train’s about to depart to a magical land filled with zombies and scrumptious food items. We’ll be sure to update you all when more Back 4 Blood news is publicly shared.
