Today, Gematsu.com reported that publisher Kadokawa Games announced on their RPG Maker MV Japanese website that the Xbox One version of the game “has been cancelled due to ‘various circumstances.'” The letter doesn’t go into detail about what these ‘circumstances’ were, but from what I could translate on the website, the publisher apologized to Xbox One fans who were looking forward to the game’s release on that console.

According to Gematsu.com, the title was released on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch “as RPG Maker MV Trinity in Japan in November 2018.” They also state that the title’s Xbox One version was supposed “to launch alongside the PlayStation 4 and Switch versions, but was delayed to ‘early 2019.'”
Gematsu.com confirms that the title “will now only be released for PlayStation 4 and Switch”–sometime this year in North America and Europe. For those who are unfamiliar with RPG Maker MV, here’s a quick run-down about the game via the title’s NISA Europe Store web-page listing.

It’s unfortunate that the game will not be coming to the Xbox One. I expect many fans were disappointed when they read this news online today. However, when one door closes another one opens. I guess Xbox One owners will just have to wait until a developer creates a game like RPG Maker MV for the system in the future.
On that note, we’ll make sure to keep you informed about RPG Maker MV’s western releases as more news is shared from Kadokawa Games or NIS America.
