Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid Will Release In April 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, & Nintendo Switch Systems!

Today, the official Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid Twitter account announced that Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid is scheduled to release in April 2019 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The PC version’s planned to come out at a later date, according to Kotaku.com. Speaking of Kotaku.com, they state, “Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid pits rangers and villains old and new against each other in battles across” these systems.

The game’s official Twitter account and YouTube channel also shared a short teaser trailer showing off the game in action. To watch the trailer on YouTube (via the Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid YouTube Channel), click here.

According to Kotaku.comnWay, this game’s publisher and developer, is known for making the mobile fighting-game Power Rangers Legacy Wars, and partnered “up with Hasbro and Lionsgate to tap 25 years of Power Rangers history for Battle for the Grid“. Kotaku.com also reports that the developers stated Battle for the Grid focuses on simple controls rather than overly complex fighting-game controls and value “when” over the “how”–regarding one’s knowledge of fighting-game combat.

However, @Battle4TheGrid argues that this title’s “combat system is built from the ground up and is not taken from the mobile game” and promises consumers that in Battle for the Grid there’ll be a new battle mechanic and different move-sets to distinguish the characters. They also promise more news will be shared soon and argue it’s not a port of Power Rangers Legacy Wars.

According to @Battle4TheGrid, the developers plan to release the title on all consoles in April 2019, however, Kotaku.com reports that the game’s PC version will release at “a future date” and that the game “will cost $19.99, with a special collectors edition with extra skins running $39.99.” Also, near the announcement trailer’s end, it was shown that if consumers pre-order the game now, they’ll receive the game’s “exclusive Green Ranger V2 skin”–an interesting pre-order offer for Power Ranger fans.

Though I’ve never played nWay’s first Power Rangers mobile fighting game, Power Rangers Legacy Wars, it’s intriguing to see the Power Rangers franchise receive a video-game in the fighting-genre. Whether this will lead to an over-powering or small following is dependent on how much passion the developers are willing to place into the title’s development. We’ll be sure to update you all when more news on this title is released online.
