Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn Will Release for Nintendo 3DS systems on March 8th!

Last night, the Nintendo of America Twitter account revealed that Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn will release exclusively for Nintendo 3DS systems on March 8th, 2019. However, Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn is planned for a March 7th release in Japan and a March 9th release in Australia, according to Nintendolife.com.

Unlike, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Nintendo did not release a new trailer that shared more information about the title. However, they did release a short five-second trailer that revealed when the game will be available in North America on Twitter. You can watch that clip here.

Nintendo revealed Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn in an Nintendo Direct that took place on September 13th, 2018. Essentially, this game’s the original Kirby’s Epic Yarn Nintendo Wii title, but with several enhancements and new features. According to Nintendolife.comNintendo’s PR team shared information about the new features and enhancements that were implemented into Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn.

The Nintendo PR team said,

“in this enhanced version of the acclaimed Kirby’s Epic Yarn game that originally launched for the Wii system, Kirby is transported into a world made of cloth and yarn to unravel enemies, unzip secret passageways and transform into powerful vehicles.”

“Every stage in the original Wii version is stitched in, but this Nintendo 3DS version has some new features, like Ravel Abilities that power up Kirby in fun ways, new mini-games featuring familiar faces King Dedede and Meta Knight, new furniture to personalize and decorate Kirby’s Pad, and a new Devilish mode that adds an extra layer of challenge to each stage. Some of the Ravel Abilities include a giant yarn ball used to attack enemies, a wire sword that can slice through anything and the Nylon ability, which can generate wind for jumping higher and collecting beads.”

As for the Amiibo functionality, Nintendolife.com quotes the Nintendo PR team stating, “the creative, colorful and visually stunning game also features new amiibo functionality* for compatible Kirby series amiibo figures that gives Kirby hats and abilities based on the figure used.”

As shown in Nintendo’s short Twitter trailer for Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, the trailer highlights that the game can only be played in 2D and not in 3D. This isn’t surprising as most titles they’ve released for the Nintendo 3DS aren’t compatible with the 3D hardware implemented into the systems.

Regarding the unexpected news drop for Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn and Yoshi’s Crafted World, some Nintendo fans are curious if these big-reveals point toward an Nintendo Direct taking place in a month other than January–February, to be exact. Though these reveals could indicate that an Nintendo Direct will not take place this month, it’s important to keep one’s guard up Nintendo’s known for doing the unexpected alla the unannounced Nintendo Direct mini that aired on January 11th, 2018.

We’ll be sure to update you all when an Nintendo Direct is announced. In the meantime, rest easy, and enjoy the Twitter discussions and predictions.
