Sony officially cuts support for the PS2 after two decades

Bring out your dead! The king of consoles is now dead. Sony officially cut support for the PS2 console in Japan as of August 31st. The best-selling home console in the world has had support for nearly two decades since its launch in 2000, but now it’s time to say goodbye.

Sony had required that PS2 owners who needed repairs fill out the request forms online up until August 31st. Any consoles that reach Japan after September 7th will be out of luck, sorry to those who hadn’t heard before this announcement. Sony also ended customer support for the console on August 31st.

The PS2 had a great run, and while I never owned one myself, I had a blast playing games on it with my friends. My favorite game that I played was Ratchet and Clank, so much fun.
