The Kingdom Hearts Twitter account announced last night that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One on January 29th, 2019. According to IGN, “The game will release 5 days earlier in Japan on January 25th, 2019.”
The game was initially targeted for a 2018 release date, but that is not the case.
Kingdom Hearts 3 director, Tetsuya Nomura, posted a response explaining when the game was revealed and why he’s sorry he had to delay the title near the start of 2019. Here’s what Normua said.
“We’ve announced the release day for KINGDOM HEARTS III ahead of E3 at the KINGDOM HEARTS Orchestra -World Tour. I’m sorry that we’re asking for a little more time than initially planned. Please look forward to other information, including a few trailers at E3. Thank you – Nomura”
Based on this information, it appears the release date was shown during the KINGDOM HEARTS Orchestra -World Tour event. Nomura promises more trailers will arrive at E3 and considering how Square Enix’s press conference is tomorrow–I’d bet money we’ll see more information on this game there.
Worth to note, it appears a Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer was shown off during the KINGDOM HEARTS Orchestra -World Tour event according to YouTube content creator, HMK. To watch his video on the topic, click here.
Fans shouldn’t get too upset about this news because you finally received a solid release date. Though Square Enix had it’s blunders with Final Fantasy 15’s release date–maybe this is an opportunity for them to refine the game in areas people were worried about during the demo event in May.
