Link opened a chest and discovered a “New” Nintendo 2DS XL system laying in it’s wake. The Nintendo of America Twitter account announced that the New Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition system will launch exclusively in GameStop stores on July 2nd for $159.99.
It resembles Link’s Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda series. Mainly, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The 2DS XL system comes pre-installed with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In this game, Link’s got to save the kingdom of Hyrule by becoming a living painting and crossing into a mysterious realm. Players can solve puzzles and defeat many challenges to clear the game! It’s a great top-down Zelda adventure fit for the worthiest of fans.
The New Nintendo 2DS XL can play everything the 3DS can but only in 2D. It has two large screens (top/bottom, built-in Amiibo support, and “a fast processor.” It’s an ideal portable system for any gamer out there who doesn’t want a Nintendo Switch yet.
I’m personally going to pass on the system since I’m about done with the 3DS library now. Though with all the games coming to the system like Wario Ware Gold and others, I might dip my hands into this gem-like device. If you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda, it’s a must-buy.
